I know I shouldn't be shocked by this, but when I bought the hat, I thought "what a cheap and cute thing to wear around Vegas!" I put on my aviator sunglasses on the next day with the hat I thought "These are very Hunter S. Thompson-Fear and Loathing inspired." But in technicolor. (My aviators are purple). While, I had seen a few documentaries and got a kick out of him, Gala Darling gave me the push to take a second look at him. Little did I know, we chose the same HAT in Vegas! No really, we chose the same hat, in the SAME COLOR. DUN DUN DUUHHH!!
I have always loved snowglobes, preferably the white flakes, glass globe. But as I got a bit older I have a heart for the tacky travel globes and we're really gonna start collecting them now. I am on the search for the worst but best snowglobes on earth from cities we visit! This is a recent decision that was prompted by Tom's purchase of the Fremont Street snowglobe. It made me yearn for the snow globe I saw in Houston's airport, but it was WAYYYY too much money.
I was supposed to be home at 11:30 am. I ended up on an overbooked flight and they needed volunteers to give up their seat. They will compensate you in travel vouchers, first class and a free meal in exchange for waiting longer right then and there. I assume they give you these things when you wait for over 2 hours. I volunteered because it was ending up on the same flight as Tom.
This is not easy. You don't pay monetarily, but you pay with inconvenience. The airport is just an awkward place to sit in for hours with little to no sleep. On my adventure, I was using my phone heavily and found that in Houston they have a charging station for cell phones and laptops. I was psyched. I bought a blanket and just sat down and waited for the next flight at 12:50 PM. I used the meal voucher and got some pasta.
I have to say first that I tend to not give "First Class" much credit because I just saw it as this social status when it doesn't actually matter or probably make a difference. I don't go into situations thinking "This is going to be soooo great/awesome. I expect it to be like..." because this is so different and alien to me that I rather not think about it than dream a scenario. So if you told me "Oh those seats are so comfortable." I would say "Eh. It's still an airplane ride." So. I sounded a bit ungracious when I just don't know how to take it. But it sounds very bad coming out of my mouth. I admit it was worth the inconvenience for me to now see the other side.
First class flying is a bizarre and comfortable place. They give you water (or whatever you order) in a actual glass, they give you a meal that isn't a sandwich, and instead of pretzels, they hand you almonds? Oh and they came out with hot towels. The most impressive things about first class are the seats and the view. No more trying to crop out the airplane wing because you are far away from it, and no more legs in your tray area and people sleeping on your shoulder because they only seat two people a row. The seats sit better, lean back better and have a robot like tray contraption. It's very space age minded.
Nice seats, a better meal and free drinks and better view. I'm thankful I did it but if I never get an opportunity again, oh well. I didn't get the meal because 1. I wasn't hungry---2. The meals had some dairy in it, in flight, made my body more intolerant than usual. But I slept for a part of the flight where I can't relax in the regular seating.
I pretty much spent the entire last day near my hotel. I wanted a day of relaxation. I went early and hit Excalibur's buffet. A typical buffet with awful desserts. Then hung out at pool then took a nap. went to M&M's store and got Tom some a goodie bag since I leave first.
The M&M's store has four floors I believe the second floor is where the candy is actually at, the rest is adorable consumer trap merchandise.
Also there are a ton of Asian people in Vegas but these women stood out in their kimonos. The bows are so cool. I had a lot of fun and had denny's for last meal. And they don't put butter in their grits. Weird.
See ya soon, NC!

We are being all tourist and really getting a feel for where we're at. We didn't have too much trouble adjusting to the time zones because on the east coast we are night owls. One disappointment we have is that everything except the casinos close at 11 pm. But here is our random pictures night. We went to new york, new york, excalibur and paris. I think those are the ones in photos.
