My makeup routine.
For purple smokey eye. Explanation below!
1) I use Bare Minerals foundation and the red stuff actually makes a good blush for me. I always put on a white eyeshadow for a base to make my eyeshadow colors really pop on my lids but it's used as my highlighter at the brows. Oh, I also fill in the thinnest part of my brows since I was a bad teenager and plucked them to death. The hair has never grown back correctly. I mainly just wear eyeshadow since my lips are huge I don't like to draw attention to them that much so I just wear chapstick! lol
2) Then I take my eyeshadow brush and I put black eyeshadow above the crease in my eye at the corners you so get that those cute neat corners and take my finger and shape the corner the way I want it to look. I don't put any black in my eye because I want the purples to light in the area where there is no purple and be darker in the areas where I put the black shadow down.
3) The purple I use is actually a blush. I bought it and didn't pay attention. The black shadow and the purple blush is Makeup Forever by Sephora. Anyway, I just paint my lids with the purple. The bottom eyelid I take the purple and line my eye from the corner to half way point of my bottom lid. It just completes the purple smokey eye. It makes my eyes look very matted down and dark all over. The next step fixes that!
4) I take a white eyeshadow powder, it's actually a kids brand called Bon Bons! from Wal Mart. I've had it for years and never used it so I started doing it recently and it works well in making a area appear lighter and it softens the harsh look of the matte purple. If I was just using the purple blush alone and put the white shadow powder on top of the purple, it would make it pastel purple. It looks nice that way! Oh I also take the white shadow powder and line the bottom lids, too.
5) I take my black liquid eyeliner and line my lids. I was always into the Old Hollywood look (Enjoy the bra straps anyone?) so I just LOVE liquid eyeliner and I think it looks the best. It really is a classic and it's my signature when doing makeup. I never leave without doing this! I just love that the liquid eyeliner really brings the attention to your eyes. Then I take my pink and green tube of mascara and do the lashes. And the look is complete!
